- Upper body weight training exercises. These exercises are designed target all the major muscle groups in your upper body such as the shoulders, biceps, triceps, pectoral, upper and middle back. You can do these exercises with dumbbells or resistance bands. To obtain great result, make sure that you gain complete muscular failure for each muscle while doing these exercises but stop immediately if they become too painful. - Walking. Although walking will mainly exercise the lower body muscles, it can be very effective for the upper body too. When you walk, make sure that you move your arms too.
